"The results are reflective of our current economic downturn, in comparison to past years, but the good news is that the majority of the
businesses are optimistic about their revenue growth," states Frank Nero, President & CEO of The Beacon Council. "Again, we see the
concern of having the availability of a highly skilled workforce in Miami-Dade County. As the economic development organization for
Miami-Dade, we cannot stress enough that this issue is crucial to our success as a community and as a global business destination. Our local

The survey is part of The Beacon Council's Local Business Local Jobs business outreach program, which focuses on local business retention and
expansion by assessing and addressing the needs of local businesses, and supporting the creation of new jobs in our community. Launched in 2001,
it was predicated upon the successful Burger King and Ryder System retention initiatives. The program includes the survey, a year-round
visitation program of Miami-Dade businesses, retention and expansion projects, The Annual Beacon Awards, the World City Magazine
Multinationals Survey, and the Miami-Dade County Key Ceremony.
