International Economic Development Council Re-Elects Beacon Council Staff to Board

The Board of Directors of the International Economic Development Council(IEDC) has re-elected Holly Wiedman, Executive Vice President of The
Beacon Council, Miami-Dade County's officially economic development organization, to its Board of Directors. Appointments were announced at
IEDC's 2008 Annual Conference, which was held October 19-22 in Atlanta,Georgia. Ms. Wiedman will serve a two-year term beginning January 1,
2009.
"The International Economic Development Council is the world's leading economic development organization for professionals working in the field of economic development," said Ian Bromley, IEDC's newly elected Chairman. "As Vice Chair for the last year, it has been my pleasure to
work with Ms. Wiedman, and I look forward to our continued collaboration as IEDC moves forward with its goals of proffering quality information,
education and development opportunities in what is, perhaps, the most challenging climate for economic development in recent years."
Ms. Wiedman has over 25 years of executive management experience in Economic Development, and she has directed programs for Miami-Dade
County, Coral Gables, Florida and Toledo, Ohio. The Beacon Council, which has an annual budget of $5 million, is a public-private
partnership that promotes the international location assets of Miami-Dade County. Since 1996, Ms. Wiedman has directed the completion
of over 400 new location and expansion projects, which have created more than 30,000 new direct jobs and added over $2 billion to Miami-Dade
County. She oversees the Beacon Council's International Programs,Retention and Expansion, National Recruitment, Urban Initiatives,
Research and Strategic Planning and Marketing departments.

professionalism, commitment, and technical expertise of our staff. In addition to her excellent work at The Beacon Council, Holly will
continue to use her extensive economic development experience and strong leadership skills to enhance the work of the IEDC's Board," said Frank R. Nero, President & CEO, The Beacon Council. "Holly's dedication to educating our profession on best practices and developing strong
relationships will make her an invaluable member of the IEDC."
In addition to her work at the Beacon Council, Ms. Wiedman serves on the Board of South Florida Workforce, Enterprise Florida's Stakeholders
Council and is a past board member of Corenet. Additionally, she is a recipient of the State of Florida's highest lifetime achievement award
in Economic Development, the Eunice Sullivan Award, and the World Trade Center's International Achievement Award. ...
