VAMOS A CUBA

Finally, the book Vamos a Cuba will apparently be pulled from MDCPS by a
federal court ruling. But the books "Cuban Kids" and "Discovering
Cultures, Cuba" which our "Concerned Cuban Parents Committee of Miami"
requested to remove are still pending. Since news in Miami is quickly
manipulated, it seems that only the A.C.L.U., the federal judges, and
the school board were involved in this matter. They left out the
Concerned Cuban Parents Committee and their efforts as citizens to
remove these books.

The Concerned Cuban Parents Committee has been waiting for more than one
year to appear before the school board to request the removal of the
two other books called "Cuban Kids" and "Discovering Cultures,Cuba"
containing the same characteristics as "Vamos a Cuba". It was the
Concerned Cuban Parents Committee who led the efforts that caused the
Miami Dade School Board, who in the beginning would not request the
removal of the book due to obstacles by the late Superintendent Crew, to
later request the removal of the books.

By this means, the Concerned Cuban Parents Committee is requesting the
new Superintendent and School Board to allow us a hearing before the
school board regarding the removal of the books Cuban Kids and
Discovering Cultures, Cuba. Our Committee also requests that the media
not manipulate the news and report the real story of the struggle that
the Cuban community put forth to remove these books with distortions of
reality in Cuba and communist propaganda financed with our taxpayer
dollars.
