was a medical doctor explaining why he opposes the bill. Instead his staffers
were left to the task of fielding questions and angry shouts from people who
were disappointed that they were not going to be heard by their elected
representative.
The staffers took an interesting approach, too. Instead of just taking notes
and assuring people that their concerns would be brought to the
Congressman´s attention, they argued with the speakers. One staffer went to
great lengths to assure one speaker (the doctor) that the Congressman
does not support HR 3200. The doctor had to insist that Congressman does
support it. And it is our Congressman´s failure personally to address our
concerns which is ultimately unacceptable.
The Congressman is being challenged for his seat by Allen West, a retired
Army officer. Colonel West has written our Congressman a letter asking that
they hold a public debate on the healthcare issue. I join in thousands of other
inquiring and disappointed constituents in asking that our Congressman
appear and debate.
